Methodology

How listings work

Where the information comes from

Each listing shows its source: added by the business itself, or added by ServicedCar.com staff. Labor rates, services, repair guarantees, hours and the administrators a shop says it works with are the business’s own statements. We do not inspect shops, test repairs or confirm a shop’s relationship with an administrator.

What signup review means

A new business listing appears only after a ServicedCar.com operator reviews the signup and records a decision. Review is not an evaluation of workmanship, pricing or coverage, and a listing is not an endorsement. Businesses edit their details afterwards without another review.

What the contract labels mean

“Accepts” and “In network” repeat what the shop told us. “Call to confirm” means the shop has not said. “Preferred” means the administrator marked that shop as preferred. None of these confirm that a particular repair, part or vehicle is covered: your contract administrator decides coverage and claims.

How results are ordered

Search uses the center point of the ZIP code you enter, from the U.S. Census Bureau’s ZIP Code Tabulation Areas, and measures straight-line distance, not driving distance. Some mailing ZIP codes have no Census area and cannot be searched. When you choose an administrator, shops that administrator marked Preferred come first, then shops that say they accept it, then the rest by distance. If nothing is within 30 miles we say so and show the closest listed shops with their distance. No business pays for placement.

National coverage

Search works for any U.S. ZIP code in the Census index, but listings are still being added and many areas have few or none yet. We would rather show you a distant shop with its real distance, or nothing, than fill the page.

Examples

A small set of made-up example listings shows what a complete listing looks like. They never appear in search results or on the map, carry no phone number or address, and are collected on one clearly marked examples page.

Corrections

If a listing is wrong, tell us. We may hide or correct a listing that is inaccurate or unauthorized, and businesses can update their own details at any time.
